
The Skanda Silver Pearl Necklace
A rare piece of temple jewellery etched with the figure of Skanda, the warrior son of Shiva, warlord of gods and supreme commander of celestial armies a god whose life story has many versions in Hinduism. He is also known as Kartikeya or Murugan and is particularly popular in South India. Seen here with his two consorts Sena and Valli riding on a peacock.
Crafted using techniques used in ancient South Indian antique gold temple jewellery (gilt and repousse) the entire piece is crafted in pure Sterling Silver (92.5%) and oxdised .The kempu stones and Pearl used to decorate the pendant give it a feminine touch ; the necklace string is made of freshwater pearl woven in silver wire .It is paired with a pair of intricate jhumkas.
