The Janya Silver Nakkasi Necklace
Opulent temple jewellery fit for a bride! This is an ornate necklace in a traditional design handcrafted in `nakkasi' or `nakshi' work (a form of gilt and repousse technique unique to south Indian temple jewellery).
The top panel of the pendant depicts the motif of `Kirtimukha' (glory-face or grotesque-mask that wards off the evil) flanked by mythical beasts. The small pieces that form the bottom part of the pendant are stamped with ten different motifs that include - parrot, Kirtimukha, Matsya or fish, leaves, flowers and the two- headed bird (Gandaberunda).
The necklace string has the 'Kirtimukha' motif on it ( demon-face or grotesque-mask used extensively in south Indian architecture and jewellery) . Kempu stones and small pearls are used to adorn the necklace and give it a feminine touch. Handcrafted in the finest traditions of ancient south Indian temple jewellery in Sterling (92.5%) Silver , this necklace is gold-dipped in a special process to give it an antique look. It is paired with ear-studs.
(Note:Tassle provided at the end for adjusting the length, we can also provide gold-dipped silver links/chain if desired at an exra cost. The necklace can be bought alone or along with the earrings, prices for both are different and both options given.)
